Below is a copy of an e-mail from Jamie Roman, Exec. Dir. of the Katie Stauffer Art Center in Quakertown:

Here is an idea of what we would like to do... We can offer the first home school course in Late September or early October. I will put together the details and get back to you, but it will not be until the 1st week of September. For now, you can inform your group of our intent to offer this class and ask them to email me at jamie@katiestauffer.org for info.

I would like to have 1 class for 5-10 year olds and another class for 11 and up.

Get ready to explore the exciting worlds of Art, Music and Drama! This session we’ll explore Africa through its diverse art in painting pottery, mask-making, Drumming, folk songs and acting out folk tales. Experience the rhythm and broaden your view of the world by exploring other cultures and their customs. 1.5 hours, 8 weeks

$119 for the first child (supplies included)

$89 for each additional child (supplies included)

 Piano Lessons

From April Mercado:I have been teaching piano and loving it for twenty-one years. My students appreciate my enthusiasm and positive approach. I will come to your Quakertown or Pennsburg area home to teach note-reading, scales, theory, interpretation, ear-training, and improvising. I offer a Spring recital, a Christmas recital, and performance opportunities at local nursing homes. For each recital, students are encouraged to learn two pieces: a solo and a duet or ensemble, either with me or with another student or students. I encourage students to play with other instruments as well – I’ve had guitars, flutes, and violins at my piano recitals. Lessons are $21 for the first half-hour, and $15 for each additional half hour at the same address, plus books and supplies. I do require a metronome (they cost about $30) and a decently tuned piano or a good quality digital piano. I have worked with many different piano methods, and I use what I think will be the best method for each student. Although I strongly feel that students should wait until they are at least seven years old to begin piano lessons, I will consider taking younger students under certain circumstances. I am also willing to provide affidavit objectives and/or portfolio evaluations for my piano students. Please contact April Mercado at 215-538-9672 or aprilgaladriel@verizon.net for more information.
